Yanez earns CSC Academic All-District award

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Sophomore Chloe Yanez has been named Academic All-District by the organization College Sports Communicators (CSC).

The CSC Academic All-American program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their efforts both in competition and in the classroom.  To be eligible, a student-athlete must compete in 90 percent of their team's games, or start in at least 66 percent of games, and attain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. They must also hold at least sophomore standing at their institution.

Yanez (Fair Oaks, Calif.) was a strong contributor during the field hockey and women's lacrosse season to earn her first CSC Academic All-District honor.  In lacrosse, Yanez started in all 15 games ranking second on the eam with 21 goals and 24 total points.  Yanez had six of her goals come while Marian had a woman-up advantage.  She also compiled 26 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and 16 draw controls on the campaign.  Yanez had multiple goals in seven games with her season-best of six goals coming on the road at Edgewood.  She also scored the game-winning goal over Cornell, the first victory for Marian over the Rams in program history.  With the field hockey program, Yanez participated in 16 games making eight starts.  One of those starts came in the opener of the CFHC Tournament where she netted a goal against CUW.

Yanez is the lone student-athlete for Marian this season to earn CSC Academic All-District honors for competing in multiple sports.
