Marian softball plays tight with No. 23 UW-Oshkosh

FOND DU LAC - Marian University softball (10-8, 4-2 NACC) played well but was defeated by No. 23 UW-Oshkosh 3-1 and 7-0.

GAME 1
  •  The Sabres were able to strike first when junior Kendall Pliner drove in a run in the bottom of the second inning.
  • This lead lasted until the fourth when UW-Oshkosh scored a pair of runs to take a 2-1 advantage.
  • The Titans would add to its lead in the top of the seventh and led 3-1.
  • Marian was able to put together a two-out rally and put the tying run on base in the bottom of the seventh.
  • A strikeout would end the game, however.
GAME 2
  • The Titans were able to strike early plating three runs in the first two innings.
  • The Sabres would load the bases in the bottom of the second inning but were held off the scoreboard.
  • UW-Oshkosh was able to break the game open scoring three runs in the fourth to lead 6-0.
  • A home run for the Titans in the top half of the sixth would seal the final at 7-0.
  • The Sabres were also able to put a runner in scoring position in the sixth inning.

Freshman Sabrina Di Vito (3-5) tossed her first complete game of the season in the opener of the twin bill.
Junior Kendall Pliner had the lone multi-hit game of the day going 2-for-3 with a run batted in in game one.
Senior Katelyn Matenaer was the only Sabre who had a hit in both games.
