Upset bid for Sabre men's basketball falls just short

FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's basketball (14-3, 7-3 NACC) had four scorers in double-figures but fell to No. 7 Wisconsin Lutheran 79-66.

  • Marian held a slim 4-2 lead before Wisconsin Lutheran went on a 13-3 run to lead 15-7.
  • The Sabres kept the deficit manageable trailing by as little as four on a couple of occasions.
  • Just as Marian cut in to the Warrior lead, however, WLC seemed to have a response preventing a lengthy Sabre run.
  • A late triple from junior Brandon Adorno put Marian down 35-29 at halftime.
  • The Warriors opened the second half building its lead to 13 at 49-36 with 15:13 to play.
  • Marian chipped away at the deficit and managed to trail by just four with 10:40 left at 57-53.
  • Just like the first half, the Warriors were able to prevent Marian from going on a lengthy run and led by at least six the rest of the way.
  • The Warriors were able to put away the game going 6-for-6 at the charity stripe in the final minute.

Junior Brandon Adorno scored a game-high 18 points to go with two assists.
Senior Eli Vogel chipped in 13 points and had five rebounds.
