VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Marian University field hockey (8-3, 1-0 CFHC) earned its fourth overtime victory of the season defeating Virginia Wesleyan 1-0 in double overtime.

- It was a defensive battle throughout with neither side managing more than three shots in any of the quarters.
- The final quarter of regulation saw neither offense even manage a shot.
- The Sabres were able to dominate the opening overtime outshooting Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 but the game headed to double overtime.
- The Marlins had an early penalty-corner chance to open the second overtime but Marian was able to turn the attempt away.
- Then 2:21 into the second extra session freshman Charlotte Touw was able to find the back of the cage to give Marian the win.

- Marian finished with a 10-7 advantage in shots with a 5-1 edge coming in overtime.
- The Sabres had seven shots on goal to only two for Virginia Wesleyan.
- Penalty corners were fairly even with VWU having a slim 7-6 edge.
- Marian is now 4-1 on the season in games that go to overtime.
- This was the first meeting between the two teams.
