FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Marian University field hockey (8-4, 1-1 CFHC) suffered its first loss in conference play falling to preseason favorite Mary Washington 2-0.

- UMW showed why they were the favorite to win the CFHC but Marian was able to put up a fight.
- The Sabres were able to hold the Eagles scoreless through the first three quarters of action.
- The Eagles were able to break through 34 seconds into the fourth quarter.
- They then added a goal wtih 6:57 to play to put the final at 2-0.

- Mary Washington had 24 shots, 16 of which were on goal, while not allowing a Marian shot.
- The Eagles also had a 16-0 advantage on penalty corners.
- This was just the second meeting between the squads after UMW defeated Marian 5-2 at Smith Field last year.
