MINNEAPOLIS - Marian University NCAA men's ice hockey (2-6-1, 1-5-0 NCHA) defeated Augsburg 2-1 in overtime in non-conference action.
- The Sabres only allowed four shots in the opening period but the game remained unsettled after the first 20 minutes.
- Senior Quinn Mulder opened the scoring 2:33 into the second period with his first goal of the year, assists to sophomore Edison Weeks and freshman Andrew Politoski.
- The Auggies found an equalizer with just 5:46 left in the period to send the game into the third knotted at 1-1.
- After a scoreless third, Marian was headed to overtime for the second time this season.
- The first shot of the extra period proved to be the only one as sophomore Brendan Bottem lit the lamp 1:08 in.
- Junior Nolan Flint and sophomore Brady Brenner each assisted the game-winner.
- Marian finished with a 24-18 edge in shots and allowed seven or fewer shots in each period.
- The Sabres had a slim edge in face-offs at 27-25.
- Each team had one power-play chance that they were unable to convert.
- The Sabres are 1-0-1 in overtime this season.
- Marian has now won the last two games they've played at Augsburg.
