Woes continue for Sabre men's basketball

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University men's basketball (13-7, 6-7 NACC) dropped its fourth straight game falling to Concordia Chicago 75-67.

  • Marian was able to get out to a fast start taking an early 8-2 advantage.
  • The Sabres took their lead out to 13-10 before the Cougars responded with a 17-2 run to take a 27-15 advantage.
  • The Cougars led by as many as 14 points in the opening half but the Sabres went into halftime only trailing 44-33.
  • Both offenses struggled in the opening minutes of the second half but CUC continued to hold a sizeable lead out to 61-46 with 8:30 on the clock.
  • Marian made a move going on a 12-2 run to only trail five with 4:16 remaining.
  • A quick 7-2 run shortly after helped the Cougars extend their advantage back out to 10 points with just 1:13 left.
  • The Sabres were able to cut this deficit down to six but couldn't get any closer in the 75-67 defeat.

  • The Sabres finished 23-of-57 (.404) from the field and just 8-of-23 (.348) from beyond the arc.
  • Concordia Chicago shot 27-for-50 (.540) from the field and 7-of-19 (.368) on triples.
  • Marian took advantage of its 10 offensive rebounds outscoring CUC 19-7 in second chance points.
  • Concordia Chicago finished with a 19-5 advantage for fast break points.
  • Marian is now 20-17 all-time against the Cougars having dropped the last three games.

Junior Brandon Adorno finished wtih a game-high 20 points and had six rebounds.
Jack Field headshot Freshman Harper Krolak continued his strong play of late chipping in 15 points off the bench.
Sophomore Andrew Ayeni had 11 points to go with a pair of steals.
