GAME 1 Despite a heavy wind blowing out, game one saw strong pitching. Concordia Chicago opened the scoring in the top of the second with a run. Marian then took a 2-1 lead off of a home run from sophomore Marc Jones in the third and fellow sophomore Keon Booker in the fourth. The Cougars hit a two-run home run of their own in the top of the sixth to take the lead for good. A sacrifice fly from CUC in the ninth set the final at 4-2. GAME 2 A slow start to game two saw Concordia Chicago plate eight runs in the top of the first inning. A two-run home run from senior James Bornick in the bottom of the frame gave Marian life, but the Cougars extended their lead to 11-2 with three runs in the second. Both pitching staffs settled in from there as the next run saw CUC push its lead to 12-2 in the sixth. Marian was able to extend the game in the bottom of the seventh with five runs. Bornick drove in a pair of runs, while graduate student Robbie Knorr brought in a run with a double. This brought the Sabre deficit to 12-7 but Concordia Chicago added a run in the top of the eighth to put the final at 14-7. Senior Logan Rademan 5-for-9 (.556) on the day with two runs scored and a run driven in. Senior James Bornick was 2-for-5 with four runs driven in and two runs scored in game two. Senior Preston Kaufman threw 6.1 innings out of the bullpen in game two allowing three earned runs on four hits.
