EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - Marian University women's volleyball (1-9, 0-0 NACC) fell to No. 2 UW-Whitewater and Carleton to open the Sandy Schumacher Memorial Tournament.

VS. NO. 2 UW-WHITEWATER (25-13, 26-24, 25-15)
- The opening set was all Warhawks as UWW was able to take an early 1-0 lead.
- Marian trailed 20-14 in the second set before going on a 9-3 run to tie the set at 23-23.
- The Sabres were able to fight off one set-point chance, but UWW took advantage of the second to lead 2-0.
- The third set played out similarly to the first as UW-Whitewater was able to secure the sweep.
VS. CARLETON (17-25, 26-24, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11)
- Marian opened the match with a 10-8 lead in the first set before scoring eight straight points to easily take the opener.
- The Sabres had a 17-12 lead in the second but Carleton showed life with five straight points.
- Marian managed to bring its lead out to 23-20 but the Knights stormed back to even the sets with a 6-1 spurt.
- The largest lead for most of the third set was only three points with Marian leading 20-19 late.
- Similarly to the second, Carlteon had a strong finish scoring six of the next seven points to take a 2-1 lead.
- Carleton built a 10-4 lead to start the fourth but Marian fought back to bring their deficit down to just one at 22-21.
- After a Knight point, Marian returned the favor with a strong finish scoring the final four points to force a fifth set.
- Neither team managed a lead larger than two through the first 21Â points with Marian trailing 11-10.
- The Knights then scored the next three points which proved to be the difference.

VS. NO. 2 UW-WHITEWATER
- Marian was limited to only 22 kills with 12 of them coming in the second set.
- The Warhawks had a 41-33 advantage for digs.
- Marian remains winless in 10 matches against the Warhawks.
- This was the fourth straight match Marian faced a team at least receiving votes in the national poll.
VS. CARLETON
- Marian finished with a 60-55 edge in kills and 93-87 advantage for digs.
- At the net, Marian had five blocks, while Carleton had eight aces at the service line.
- This was the first victory in three matches for Carleton against Marian.
- The Sabres are winless in both five-set matches this season.
