FOND DU LAC - No. 12 Marian University ACHA Division II (16-5-1, 4-3-1 NCHL) finished non-conference play defeating Lake Superior State 5-2 and 4-3.

  GAME 1 (HOME, W, 5-2)
  • An evenly matched opening period saw each team score one goal.
  • Blake Stafford was the goal scorer for the Sabres with an assist to Jackson Sweeney.  
  • Marian then dominated in the second period and took a 3-1 lead after scoring two goals separated by just 21 seconds.
  • Sweeney scored on a power play to open the quick run before Ashton Underhill lit the lamp.
  • Easton Nick and Devon Butler were able to help Marian pull away at 5-1.

  • Lake Superior State was able to take the lead again at 2-1 before Gavyn Galloway lit the lamp to send the game into the third knotted at 2-2.
  • The Sabres were able to take their first lead of the game thanks to back-to-back goals from Anthony O'Neal in a span of 2:13.
  • The second O'Neal score came on a power play.
  • The Lakers were able to score a late power-play goal but Marian was able to hold off the late Laker push.
