The largest lead for most of the opening set was only two points before an 8-4 run put the Sabres ahead 20-16. The Blue Jays rallied to tie the set at 21-21 but Marian was able to score four of the final five points to take the opening set. The second set opened at a 6-6 stalemate before the Blue Jays jumped ahead 13-9. Marian was able to quickly rally going on a run of 8-3 to take a 17-16 lead. Westminster rebounded retaking the lead at 20-18 before a dominating finish gave Marian a 2-0 advantage. The Sabres were able to finish the set with an 8-1 spurt highlighted by two kills and two aces from senior Trent Goo Sun. Marian held a 9-6 lead to start the third but the Blue Jays managed seven straight points to lead 13-9. The Sabres chipped away and trailed 18-16 before scoring four straight to lead by two. The two sides eventually found themselves tied at 23-23 with a service error giving Marian a match-point. The Sabres were turned away on the first match-point but converted the second to earn a sweep. Marian held a 39-34 advantage in kills and a 32-30 edge for digs. The Blue Jays had an advantage at the service line with six aces to only two for the Sabres. Marian had 13 kills in each set and hit .212 for the match. The Sabre defense held the Blue Jays to a .111 hitting percentage and had 11 blocks. The two sides split the season series after Marian was defeated in five sets in the season opener. Sophomore Adrian Calderon paced Marian with 13 kills and seven digs, while hitting .458 in the match. Senior Trent Goo Sun had nine kills to go with two service aces. Junior Carter Shogren was a part of six blocks.
