Late lead slips away in Marian women's basketball loss to CUW

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's basketball (3-21, 3-14 NACC) led most of the way before Concordia Wisconsin used a late surge to hand the Sabres a 62-52 loss.

  • A fast start gave Marian a 19-10 lead after the first quarter, powered by strong scoring in the paint.
  • The Sabres ended the quarter on a 9-2 run, with four different players scoring.
  • A layup from senior Chelsea King to open the second quarter pushed Marian's lead to double digits at 21-10.
  • The Falcons came back with a 19-9 second quarter to grab a 29-28 halftime lead. 
  • Sophomore Nyedeng Awak grabbed three rebounds in the quarter, finishing with five for the half. 
  • Awak continued her dominance in the third quarter, scoring six of the Sabres' first eight points, all in the paint.
