LAKE FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's ice hockey (13-13-0, 9-9-0 NCHA) let an early lead slip by falling to Lake Forest 3-2 in game one of the NCHA Slaats Cup Quarterfinals.

- Senior Rebecca Larson was able to start the scoring with a power-play goal 6:07 into the game, assists to juniors Catherine Yasenak and Olivia Laube.
- Lake Forest found an equalizer just 4:10 later but a second power-play score put Marian ahead 2-1.
- Sophomore Piper Miller was the goal scorer for Marian, just 1:08 following the LFC goal, and junior Ella Spies had an assist.
- The 2-1 lead held into the second period where the Foresters scored at the 6:52 mark.
- The Foresters then took their first lead of the game scoring a power-play goal at the 9:07 mark of the third.
- Marian spent the final 1:06 with an empty net but couldn't force overtime.

- Lake Forest led in shots by a 37-29 edge.
- Face-offs favored LFC as well by a slim 36-30 margin.
- Marian was 2-for-4 on the power play and Lake Forest finished 1-for-2.
- Marian is 0-3-0 against Lake Forest in the NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs.
- The Sabres will need a win in game two of the series to force a mini-game, which would be played immediately after.
