WESTFIELD, Ind. - Marian University baseball (1-1, 0-0 NACC) earned its first victory of the season defeating Hope 5-3.

- Hope was on the board first scoring in the bottom of the second but Marian scored in the next three innings to immediately take the lead.
- Junior Ryan O'Toole scored off of an error in the third to open the scoring for the Sabres.
- Marian then took the lead in the fourth when junior Jason Sims crossed the plate.
- A double from junior Keon Booker in the fifth plated a pair of Sabres to give Marian a 4-1 advantage.
- The Sabre lead was cut to one in the sixth when Hope plated a pair of runs.
- Some insurance came in the eighth with a single from junior Will Strehl that brought home O'Toole.
- The first two hitters were able to reach in the bottom of the ninth but sophomore Jackson Spejcher retired the next three hitters to slam the door shut.

- Marian led in hits for the game by an 8-6 margin.
- Each team had one error on the defensive side but no runs were unearned.
- The Sabres are now 1-2 all-time against Hope with this being the first meeting since 2005.
