Marian women's ice hockey finishes season sweep of Beloit

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's ice hockey (11-10-0, 7-7-0 NCHA) defeated Beloit 4-1 to secure a season sweep of the Buccaneers.

  • Marian opened the scoring at the 8:48 mark of the first period for the lone score of the stanza.  
  • Senior Jennarae Bateman lit the lamp for the Sabres with help from sophomore Summer Mullin and fellow senior Caitlin Traver.
  • A power-play goal from senior Rebecca Larson opened the scoring for the second period, assists to senior Logan Crawford and junior Catherine Yasenak.
  • Sophomore Zowie Hunter put Marian ahead 3-0 with 6:26 left in the second with assists to junior Olivia Laube and Yasenak.
  • The Buccaneers managed to find the back of the net 50 seconds later to trail 3-1 going into the final stanza.
  • The Sabres were able to ice the game with 7:02 left in the third period when Hunter scored off of a centering pass from senior Aubriella Westphal.

  • Marian had a 39-23 advantage for shots including a 29-11 edge through the first 40 minutes.
  • The Sabres finished with a 34-27 advantage on face-offs.
  • Marian was 1-for-4 on the power play and held the Buccaneers scoreless on five chances.
  • The victory propels Marian to a program record for wins in a season.
  • Marian finishes the season 3-0-0 against Beloit having outscored the Buccaneers 13-3.

Sophomore Zowie Hunter had her third multi-goal game of the season.
Freshman Emily Fuchs (2-1-0) made a season-high 22 saves and had a .957 save percentage.
Junior Catherine Yasenak had a pair of assists for the first multi-point game of her career.
