FOND DU LAC - No. 11 Marian University ACHA Division II (21-6-1, 5-4-1 NCHL) earned its sixth NCHL Hap Cup Championship with a 4-3 overtime win over No. 6 Purdue Northwest.
 

• The Pride were able to score just 56 seconds into the championship game to take an early lead.
• This proved to be the lone score until two late goals in the second period gave Marian its first lead.
• Devon Butler scored the first goal with just 1:39 on the clock, assists to Anthony O'Neal and Easton Nick.
• Then with just 40 seconds on the clock, Nick gave Marian the lead with help from O'Neal.
• The 2-1 lead lasted only 1:17 into the third period when the Pride tied the game.
• Purdue Northwest then retook the lead 3-2 with 12:16 to play.
• With an empty-net on the other end, Marian found an equalizer off the stick of Jace Weber with just 20 seconds remaining.
• Then in overtime, Blake Stafford completed the comeback scoring a 4-on-4 goal.

 

• An evenly-matched game, PNW finished with a 45-44 advantage in shots.
• Marian improves to 6-1 in NCHL Hap Cup Championship games.
• Purdue Northwest took both meetings of the season-opening series.
• The Sabres are 6-4-0 all-time against the Pride with this being a second straight win in the championship game.
