Sabre flag football earns first win in program history

CHICAGO - Freshman Holly Goodwin had four total touchdowns and added two interceptions on defense as Marian University flag football (1-1, 0-0 NACC) cruised to a 31-9 win over North Park.

  • North Park struck first with an early first-quarter touchdown to take a 6-0 lead. It would be the Vikings' only offensive points of the game. 
  • The duo of Goodwin and freshman Kendall Graves has shown strong chemistry through two games this year, connecting on three touchdown passes, including the Sabres' opening score tonight.
  • Sophomore Daniela Chaname set up the Sabres with a 14-yard punt return and followed it with a rushing touchdown, her first of the season. 
  • The Sabres intercepted two Viking passes in the second quarter, contributing to a four-interception night for North Park quarterback Janiya Greenfield.
  • Marian dominated the third quarter, with Goodwin tossing two touchdowns holding North Park scoreless for the second consecutive quarter. 
  • The Sabres capped off their offensive explosion with a touchdown reception by junior Raegan Montello, who led the team with 53 yards receiving.

Freshman Holly Goodwin had a breakout game with 130 passing yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions on defense. 
Sophomore Daniela Chaname picked off two Viking passes and added a rushing touchdown, while finishing with 70 total yards of offense. 
Freshman Kendall Graves caught two touchdowns passes and totaled five receptions for 47 yards.
