FOND DU LAC - Marian University softball (7-7, 4-0 NACC) swept its home opener against MSOE, earning 2-1 and 3-1 victories.
GAME 1
- Sophomore Aubrey Bender got the Sabres on the board in the second with a two-run single, as junior Sabrina Di Vito and sophomore Macey Pease scored on the play for Marian's lone runs of the game.
- MSOE responded in the fourth with an RBI single by Jayda Nelson, cutting the Raiders' deficit to one.
- With two on and two outs in the sixth, junior McKenna Repovich struck out Caroline Fouras to end the inning.
- The Raiders threatened to tie it in the seventh, but the Sabres held MSOE hitless in the inning to secure the win.
GAME 2
- With the bases loaded and the game scoreless to start the fourth, junior Savanna Knuth delivered an RBI single to left field.
- The Sabres added two more runs in the inning on a Pease single and a Bender walk, taking a 3-0 lead.
- A Marian fielding error led to an unearned run in the sixth, trimming the lead to two.
- The Raiders managed one hit in the seventh before a lineout ended the game and secured the sweep for the Sabres.
GAME 1
- Marian led 9-5 in hits, with Bender, senior Ariana Schliepp, and junior Erin Cowe each recording two.
- MSOE went error-free, while Marian had two.
GAME 2
- Marian led in hits 9-3, with four coming in the fourth inning.
- MSOE's only run was unearned, resulting from the Sabres' lone error.
- Senior Riley Mankowski recorded six fielding assists, the most by any Sabre this season.
- Marian moved to 51-34-1 all-time against MSOE and has won five of the last seven against the Raiders.
