GAME 1 (L, 7-3) The Spartans were able to start strong hitting three home runs to lead 4-0 after two innings. Marian was able to cut that deficit in half when sophomores Carter Scott and Sawyer Shultis each drove in a run with a single in the fifth. The Spartans immediately responded with two of their own in the bottom half. A run-producing single from sophomore Ayden Kanaman in the ninth helped put the final at 7-3. GAME 2 (L, 15-5, 7 Innings) The Sabres were able to strike first when freshman Randall Von Haden and Brody Nolan each brought home a run with a single in the first. The lead was short lived, however, as Aurora plated four runs in their half of the first frame. The Spartans went on to score 14 unanswered runs in total and led 14-2 after three innings. Junior Luca Lemons plated two runs in the fourth and sophomore George Hoss Jr. brought home a run in the sixth to put the tally at 14-5. Aurora then ended the game early with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. GAME 1 Each team had 13 hits in the game. The Sabres had two errors which led to two unearned runs for Aurora. Marian allowed six extra-base hits. GAME 2 The Spartans held a 13-9 advantage for hits in the game. Marian had two defensive miscues again while Aurora had just one. The Sabres are now 10-30 all-time against Aurora having dropped the last four meetings. Junior Marc Jones was the lone Sabre with multiple hits in both games. Sophomore Ayden Kanaman was 3-for-4 with a run driven in in game one. Freshman JJ Ackerman tossed the final 3.1 innings of game two allowing only one run on three hits.
