Coach Peltonen's Quotes
“ What can you say about a tie. We didn't get the good feeling that a win gives you, but we didn't have that lousy feeling that a loss gives you. It kind of gives you an ambivalent feeling. We played well enough to win, but didn't earn it. We didn't allow any goals, which was a good team effort, and a real positive for us. As our season mission statement reads, “ a team with a goal beats a team with no goals”, and since we didn't score we didn't earn the win.”
“Our game plan was to be more dangerous in the attack today. We accomplished that although it took a while to get into the flow. Once we did, we got some early serves to the backdoor and we got endline. We were able to keep possession up to their 18 yard box, but again we didn't have a lot of success getting behind their backs once there. Shots started to come, especially in the 2nd half, and we had two good chances, one by Lupe Hernandez and another by Peter Xiong, but neither were we able to put on frame. We had the better of the play today, and our defending was excellent. Defending well keeps you in games, but that isn't what earns wins. You need to score more goals than the opponent and we didn't do that today and the game ends in a 0-0 tie.”
“Game balls go to defenders Tito Vera, Tyler Donahue, Dustin Hendrikse, and Kenny Pieper for their solid play in the back. Everett Zank get a game ball for his spark of the bench and providing service into the box and Nick Henkemeyer for maintaining the shut-out.”
