Box Score (Fond du Lac, WI) - Carly Saunders (Eagle River, WI) provided the Sabres with some late-game heroics and helped Marian University tie UW-Platteville 2-2. Saunders hooked one in with just 2:16 to play to even the game. Both coaches agreed to end the game after regulation, therefore the game finished at 2-2 without overtime.
Marian got on the board first as freshman Brittany Graham (Alvin, WI) scored her first career colleigate goal off an assist from Cassandra Crawford (Wales, WI) at the 7:53 mark. Graham was able to convert a putback after Crawford's shot hit the post.
The Pioneers evened things at 1-1 as Kimmy Trapp scored off an assist from Sarah Gengler at the 24:52 mark.
UW-Platteville then took a 2-1 lead in the second half as Allie Metcalfe scored off an assist from Marissa Mol in the 70th minute.
Saunders had the answer however as she helped the Sabres avoid defeat.
The Pioneers out-shot the Sabres 14-10 in the contest.
Marian goalkeeper, Tiffany Erdman (Wausau, WI), recorded four saves in the contest.
Marian is back in action on Sunday, as they will host Carroll University at 1:00 PM.
