MADISON, Wis. -- The Marian tennis team took part in a dual match-up against the Aurora Spartans on Saturday, April 25 at the John Powless Tennis Court in Madison, Wisconsin. The Sabres were defeated 9-0 by the Spartans to wrap up their season.

"Even though it was a frustrating year wins and losses wise, I thought our team got better as the year went on and they gave a great effort today," Head coach Marcus Wiegert said. "The guys were able to keep their focus and continue to compete each week and we look to learn from this season and improve next year."

The Sabres had a difficult time in doubles play.

Marian's number two pair, Payton Trammel and Carson Johnstone, and number three pair, Sam Maetzold and Zachary Stanczyk, each came away with two points to lead the team.

Maetzold also scored a team-high three points in singles play.

The majority of the team will be returning for the 2016 season, while Maetzold and Mike Kunes are set to graduate in May.
