History made as Marian women's lacrosse competes in inaugural game

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Marian University women's lacrosse (0-1, 0-1 MWLC) competed in their inaugural game falling to Concordia Chicago 16-4 in MWLC action.

The Cougars scored the opening goals of the game but Marian would bounce back with freshman Sally Moris scoring the program's first goal with 23:42 left to play in the first half.  Sophomore Lindsay Lewison scored while the Sabres were a man-up 2:12 later to knot the game at two.

Concordia Chicago was able to score eight unanswered goals to close out the half with a 10-2 lead.  After another pair of Cougar goals, freshman Bayli Mannek scored her first-career goal with junior Maggie Cusey picking up the program's first assist on the play.  Moris would net her second goal of the game to close out the scoring for Marian with the program's first free position tally.

Moris also had seven ground balls and four caused turnovers to go with her multi-goal game.  Junior Molly Gross made 11 saves taking the loss in goal for the Sabres.  She would also hold CUC to four free position goals on 10 attempts.

Marian will next travel to Augsburg Saturday, March 9 for a 7 p.m. tilt in MWLC action.
