Sabre women's lacrosse falters in second half of 23-12 loss at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - Marian University women's lacrosse (3-11, 2-9 MWLC) continued their road trip falling Wartburg 23-12 in MWLC action.

After a slow start that saw the Sabres fall behind 8-3 with 13:06 left in the first half, Marian managed to score four of the next six goals and cut their deficit down to 12-8 heading into halftime.  Wartburg then took over in the second stanza outscoring the Sabres 11-4.  Marian was able to end the game on a high note scoring the final two goals including a free-position goal from freshman Sally Moris with one second left.

Moris finished the game with a team-high five goals, while senior Hailey Miller added five goals and freshman Bayli Mannek chipped in four goals.  Moris also finished with two assists, three ground balls, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers.  In her first game in goal, junior Maggie Cusey was able to make 11 saves on the 34 shots she faced.

Marian returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, April 20, playing at Cornell with an 11 a.m. start.
