Box Score VERONA, Wis. - Marian University women's lacrosse (0-5) rallied late but fell to Edgewood 16-12 in their final road game of the season.
Edgewood struck first and a 5-0 run from the Eagles gave them a 6-2 lead midway through the first half. The Eagles continued their momentum in the opening stanza and were able to build their lead to five at the break at 10-5. Freshman Ashtyn Stoor scored the final three goals of the half for Marian.
The Eagles and Sabres went back-and-forth to open the second half with Edgewood scoring at the 17:54 mark to go ahead 14-7. From there, Marian was able to outscore the Eagles 5-2 to close out the second half, but the Sabres were unable to overcome their first half deficit with the 16-12 final.
The Sabres held a 37-32 advantage in shots for the defeat and forced 23 Edgewood turnovers.
Stoor continued her strong play this season recording six goals as part of an eight-point game. Sophomore Courtney Humphres and freshman Nicole Stachon each had multi-goal games as well with Stachon also recording seven ground balls and six draw controls.
In goal, freshman Grace Moll (0-5) finished with 10 saves on 26 shots with five saves coming in each half.
Marian hosts CUW at Smith Field Tuesday, April 20 in their final game of the season.
