FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's soccer (8-6-2, 6-3-2 NACC) scored three goals in the second half to defeat Lakeland 4-1.
A free-kick goal from junior
Drew Cowden opened the scoring when he snuck a shot in the upper-90 on the left side of the frame. The score was his eighth of the season. The Muskies responded at the 36:20 mark to tie the game at 1-1 going into halftime.
The Sabres were able to take control in the second half and scored three times in a span of 8:26. JuniorÂ
Isak Olsson scored off of a header from junior
Logan Holevas at the 70:21 mark for what served as the game-winner. Junior
Giuliano Corazzina gave the Sabres some cushion with his 13th goal at the 75:19 mark, assists to senior
Max Kauffman and Cowden. Olsson then concluded his first multi-goal game tipping in a shot off of a set piece from a free kick. Cowden provided a centering pass and Holevas sent a shot that was tipped in by Olsson at the 78:47 mark.
Marian outshot the Muskies 16-5 in the second half and 27-11 for the game. Corazzina, Cowden, and Holevas all had five shots to lead the Marian offense. Junior
Aden Jerome (6-3-1) stopped a pair of shots to earn the victory in goal.
Marian currently sits in fourth in the NACC standings with one game remaining against Edgewood at home Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. Prior to that, the Sabres will take on Grinnell in non-conference action Sunday, Oct. 23 for a noon kick-off.
