WAVERLY, Iowa - Marian University women's lacrosse (0-5, 0-0 NACC) was defeated by Wartburg 15-5 to close out a five-game road trip to open the season.

The Knights were able to get out to a fast start scoring the first six goals of the game.  Freshman Izzy Newton scored a pair of goals in the second quarter with her first being aided by freshman Emma Heide.  Sophomore Dallas Kreisa was the lone goal scorer in the third with the Sabre drawing even at 2-2 in the final quarter.  Sophomores Jazmine Barrios and Nicole Stachon each scored for Marian in the final stanza.

Heide led the team with five ground balls and forced a pair of turnover.  Freshman Gwen Kosirog (0-5) stopped three shots in goal for Marian.

Marian takes on Augustana (Ill.) Thursday, March 24 for a 5 p.m. start in their first home game of the season.
