Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. - Marian University men's lacrosse (2-5, 0-0 NACC) used a big third quarter to defeat Northwestern (Minn.) 10-7 in non-conference action.
The Eagles were able to take an early 2-1 lead to open the game before Marian scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-2 advantage. Northwestern (Minn.) responded scoring the final two goals of the game to put the score at 4-4 heading into halftime. The Sabres dominated the third quarter scoring four times and holding the Eagles scoreless. Marian had four different goal scorers in the quarter as the Sabres headed into the fourth leading 8-4. The Eagles scored the opening goal of the fourth quarter before scores from freshman Cole Hales-Main and freshman Jack Mehojah put the Sabres ahead 10-5 with just 3:17 left. One final push saw UNW score a pair of goals in the final 2:14 but Marian was able to hold on for the victory.
Hales-Main led the way for the Sabre with three goals and five ground balls, while senior Nick Klotz had a pair of goals to go with three assists. Defensively, senior Trevor Propeck was able to cause six Eagle turnovers. Senior Erik Horman (1-3) earned the first victory of his career in goal making 19 saves and holding UNW scoreless on three extra-man opportunities.
Marian opens NACC play taking on Concordia Chicago Saturday, April 2 at noon.
