Box Score BELOIT, Wis. - Marian University women's lacrosse (2-12, 2-4 NACC) closed out the NACC schedule defeating Beloit 4-1.
Marian opened up the scoring with a pair of goals in the opening quarter. Freshman Izzy Newton had both tallies with sophomore Nicole Stachon assisting the first and sophomore Kayla Kolpitcke the second. Newton completed a hat trick scoring the only goal of the second quarter, assist to freshman Emma Heide, as the Sabres went into halftime ahead 3-0.
After a scoreless third quarter, sophomore Jazmine Barrios found the back of the net with 5:49 left to ice the game. The Buccaneers would score just 36 seconds later to end the Marian shutout.
The Sabre defense held Beloit to 15-of-37 (.405) on clear attempts. On top of her hat trick, Newton recorded four ground balls and caused five turnovers. Freshman Gwen Kosirog (2-12) made three saves in goal for the Sabres.
Marian travels to Elmhurst Saturday, April 30 for a 10 a.m. non-conference game to conclude the season.
