FOND DU LAC - Marian University men's soccer (3-4-0, 1-1-0 NACC) controlled the pace of play and defeated Rockford 2-0 at home.
The Sabres came out flying as the first scoring opportunity came just 1:51 into the game when junior
Giuliano Corazzina hit the crossbar and was denied the early score. At the 24:01 mark Corazzina would make sure to get the job done scoring his fourth goal of the season. Freshman Isreal Duran provided him a centering pass after using his speed to get past the defense. This would be the lone score of the half as Marian outshot Rockford 7-2.
Marian continued to dominate in the second half finishing with a 19-4 advantage in shots for the stanza. Another fast start saw Marian hit the cross bar and the right post in the first 5:56 of action. It wouldn't be until 1:30 remained in the game when Duran scored his third goal of the season to seal the victory. Duran was once again able to use his speed to weave past the defense and find the back of the net.
The Marian defense did not allow a single shot on goal for the game and the offense finished with a 26-6 advantage in shots. Junior
Drew Cowden and Corazzina each had six shots to lead Marian, while junior
Aden Jerome (1-2-0) earned his first victory of the season in net.
Marian travels to St. Norbert Wednesday, Sept. 21 for a 6 p.m. NACC match-up.
