Sabre men's soccer drops defensive nail biter at Puget Sound

TACOMA, Wash. - Marian University men's soccer (0-3-0, 0-0-0 NACC) fell in a defensive thriller to Puget Sound by a 1-0 final.

The Sabre offense got out to a slow start and were held without a shot through the first 45 minutes of action.  The Marian defense kept the Sabres in the game allowing just two shots on goal in the opening half, however, UPS was able to score at the 22:33 mark off of a free kick.  The offensive struggles continued for both sides in the second stanza with each team only managing one shot on goal.  The Sabres were able to outshoot the Loggers by a 5-4 margin in the second.

Freshman Owen Holevas had the lone shot on goal for the Sabres with freshman Israel Duran recording a pair of shots.  Junior Aden Jerome (0-2-0) made a save in goal in the losing effort.

Marian travels to Lawrence Wednesday, Sept. 7 for a 7 p.m. kick-off in non-conference action.
