GAME 1
  • Both offenses struggled in the opener but a late Marian rally fell short against Catholic.
  • Catholic scored a pair of runs in the third before a two-run home run in the fifth put the Cardinals ahead 4-0.
  • Marian had a response in the next half inning when freshman Ariana Schliepp hit her first collegiate home run to cut the Sabre deficit down to 4-2.
  • The Sabres were able to bring the tying run to the plate in the seventh but couldn't plate any more runs.
GAME 2
  • Unlike game one, the second game against Kenyon proved to be a high scoring affair.
  • Marian was able to produce a pair of runs on the base paths in the first inning only to have Kenyon plate four in their half of the first frame.
  • Junior Katelyn Matenaer sparked a rally in the third driving in a pair of runs to tie the game.
  • Senior Emalee Depa then gave Marian the lead once again at 5-4 when she drove in sophomore Evelynn Spaeth.
  • The lead once again didn't last long, however, as Kenyon scored six unanswered runs between the next three innings.
