Marian Women's Lacrosse Dominates Beloit in Regular Season Finale

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's lacrosse (8-7, 3-2 NACC) cruised to an 18-2 win over Beloit to finish the regular season.

  • Only one goal was scored in the first quarter when sophomore Izzy Newton found the back of the net.
  • The Sabres then scored four goals in the first 6:28 of the second quarter to go ahead 5-0.
  • Beloit would score its first goal of the game but Newton put Marian ahead 6-1 going into halftime.
  • Marian scored the opening three goals of the first quarter only to have Beloit score to put the score at 9-2.
  • From there, it was all Sabres as Marian scored five unanswered goals to go ahead 14-2 heading into the final quarter.
  • Marian was able to score four more times in the final stanza and shutout Beloit to put the final at 18-2.

  • Marian held Beloit to two or fewer shots in each quarter and finished with a 51-6 edge.
  • The Sabre defense also had a strong showing forcing 43 turnovers and holding the Buccaneers to 8-of-31 (.258) on clears.
  • Marian also hel da 45-20 edge in ground balls and went 15-of-16 (.938) on clear attempts.
  • Marian awaits results from the Edgewood and Beloit game Saturday, April 29 to complete tie breakers for the NACC Tournament.

Sophomore Izzy Newton scored a career-high six goals to lead the Marian offense.
Junior Nicole Stachon also had a career day scoring five goals for a six-point performance.
Junior Dallas Kreisa scored five goals with an assist to go with eight ground balls, two caused turnovers, and eight draw controls
