Marian Softball Earns Home Sweep on Senior Day

FOND DU LAC - Marian University softball (15-15, 10-8 NACC) didn't allow a single run as the Sabres swept WLC 8-0 in five innings and 2-0 on Senior Day.

GAME 1
  • Marian was able to break open game one quickly scoring six runs in the second inning.
  • Senior Kaley Ludvigsen highlighted teh big frame driving in a pair of runs with a double.
  • The Sabres were able to then end the game early with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
  • Senior Ivy Stary drove in a run to open the inning before freshman Hope Matta finished the game with a run-producing single.
GAME 2
  • The second game of the doubleheader turned into a pitching duel with Marian securing the sweep.
  • Marian once again was able to get out to a strong start with junior Katelyn Matenaer driving in a run with a triple in the first.
  • Matenaer then drove in another run in the third with a sacrifice fly and it proved to be more than enough in another Sabre shutout.

GAME 1
Senior Emalee Depa (6-9) tossed a shutout allowing just three hits.  She also went 2-for-3 with two runs scored at the plate.
Senior Kaley Ludvigsen went 2-for-3 with two driven in and a run scored.
Freshman Hope Matta was 2-for-4 with two runs driven in and a run scored.


GAME 2
Junior Katelyn Matenaer was 2-for-2 with two runs driven in.
Senior Cailie Pliner (8-4) tossed 4.2 innings allowing just five hits to earn the victory.
Senior Emalee Depa tossed the final three outs without allowing a hit to earn her third save of the season.
