KENOSHA, Wis. - Marian University women's lacrosse (0-2, 0-0 NACC) finished its first weekend of the season falling at Carthage 9-3.
- Carthage was on the board first scoring just 2:40 into the game.
- Senior Nicole Stachon responded with a free-position goal while the Sabres were a woman-up at the 3:44 mark.
- The Firebirds had a strong finish to the quarter scoring two goals in a span of 1:02 to take a 3-1 lead into the second.
- The two squads traded goals in the second with senior Kali Moreno scoring the first goal of her career to put the score at 4-2 going into the half.
- Carthage would score four unanswered goals between the third and the start of the fourth to lead 8-2.
- Stachon would net her second of the game with 5:02 left in the period for her first multi-goal game of the season.
- The Firebirds finished the game with a woman-up goal with just 10 seconds left to put the final at 9-3.
- Carthage held a 27-12 advantage for shots in the game but Marian only trailed in shots 11-9 at the end of the first half.
- The Firebirds also held a 46-35 edge for ground balls and 10-4 advantage on draw controls.
- The Marian clear went 17-for-31 (.548) in the defeat.
- Carthage has won all three meetings in the all-time series with the 9-3 defeat being the smallest margin of defeat for Marian.
