Marian women's volleyball sweeps Alverno to snap skid

FOND DU LAC - Marian University women's volleyball (2-20, 1-7 NACC) earned its firs NACC win of the season defeating Alverno 28-26, 25-18, and 25-23.

The Sabres had a slow start and found themselves railing 8-2 to open the match.
The Inferno brought their lead out to 11-6 before Marian scored six straight to lead 12-11.
Alverno responded with a 6-1 run shortly after to lead 23-17.
A strong run from freshman Lily Breed saw Marian tie the set at 23-23 and stave off a set-point chance for Alverno in the next point.
Marian failed to convert a set-point chance of their own before a kill from senior Harley Bartels capped off the comeback.
The second set saw Marian score seven unanswered points to lead 11-5.
Alverno was able to cut their deficit down to two at 19-17 before Marian finished the set on a 6-1 spurt.
The third set was tightly contested with the largest lead for either side being only three points.
The momentum swung both ways with the score eventually settling at 23-23.
Marian was then able to end the match with kills from freshman Cassandra Arndt and senior Jenna Butschlick.

Marian finished with a 42-33 edge in kills and 60-49 advantage in digs.
The Sabres had at least 11 kills in all three sets and had an attack percentage of .308 in the second.
Marian was able to benefit from 10 Alverno service errors.
The Sabres improve to 25-0 all-time against the Inferno with this being the sixth straight sweep.

	Senior Mikalah Mueller led the way with a team-high eight kills and a match-high 14 digs.
	Senior Natalie Dempze-Enkro followed suit with seven kills and 13 digs.
	Freshman Lily Breed had 25 assists and four service aces.
