SUPERIOR, Wis. - Marian University NCAA men's ice hockey (3-10-2, 2-6-0 NCHA) closed out non-conference play with a 3-1 loss to UW-Superior, who is receiving votes in both national polls.
- Marian was on the board first when junior Cole Carlson scored with 4:08 left in the first period, assists to freshman Owen Norman and sophomore Eemil Rautio.
- The lead lasted into the first intermission but only 17 seconds into the second period before UWS tied the game.
- The Yellow Jackets then scored at the 6:56 mark to take their first lead of the game.
- An insurance goal came with 9:12 left in the stanza as UWS built its lead to 3-1.
- This proved to be the final score despite Marian spending 3:08 with an empty net.
- Marian had 27 shots and limited UW-Superior to only 23 shots, their fourth-lowest total this season.
- The Sabres also had a 28-21 advantage on face-offs.
- Neither side had a power-play goal with Marian having two chances and UWS just one.
- Marian is now 6-7-3 all-time against UW-Superior with the Yellow Jackets taking the last four meetings.
