WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - Marian University baseball (2-3, 0-0 NACC) fell to Rose-Hulman 9-8 before a couple of days off at the RussMatt Invitational.

- The Fightin' Engineers had a strong start scoring three runs in the first inning.
- Rose-Hulman took a 4-0 lead in the top of the third before Marian plated a pair in the bottom half.
- A stolen base followed by an error helped put Marian on the board before junior Marc Jones drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to cut the RHIT lead in half.
- Rose-Hulman had a response rebuilding its lead back to 6-2 in the top of the fourth.
- Marian battled back cutting the deficit to one in the fifth when junior Lucas Lemons drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run and junior Will Strehl brought home two runs with a single.
- The Sabres then took advantage of an error in the bottom half of the eighth to tie the game at 6-6.
- A strong start to the top of the ninth allowed RHIT to plate three runs.
- A home run from junior Jason Sims sparked a comeback in the ninth as Marian was able to trail by just one at 9-8.
- The Sabres were able to get the tying run in scoring position only for a strikeout to end the game.

- The Sabres had two errors and RHIT had five errors.
- The top three hitters in the RHIT lineup had multiple hits.
