ROCKFORD, Ill. - Marian University baseball (6-7, 1-1 NACC) fell in its NACC opener against Rockford before a convincing 10-4 win to salvage a split.

GAME 1
- Rockford managed a one-out home run and a two-out run-producing single to take a 2-0 lead in the opening frame.
- The Regents managed to put on a pair of runners in the second but Marian turned Rockford away.
- This proved to be the lone final threat of the game as neither side left multiple runners on for the rest of the game.
GAME 2
- The Sabre offense wasted no time getting on the board in game two scoring the first nine runs of the game.
- A pair of run-producing singles put Marian ahead 2-0 after the first .
- The Sabres then plated a run in teh second and two more in the third.
- Marian broke the game open in the fifth scoring four runs.
- Rockford managed to score four unanswered and trailed 9-4 after six innings.
- A run-producing single from junior Lucas Lemons in the eighth helped cap off a 10-4 win.
