WATERTOWN, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's soccer team clinched the second overall seed and a first round bye in the 2011 NAC Tournament with a 3-0 win over host Maranatha Baptist, this evening, Oct. 27.

The Sabres received goals from Danielle Donnermeyer, Taylor Hozeska and Leisa Conn en route to their 12th victory of the season, which ties for the second-most in school history and one shy of the all-time record of 13 victories set back in 1993.

With the win, MU is now 12-6 overall and it finishes the regular season with a 10-2 NAC record. The ten wins in conference play are the most in school history.

Donnermeyer started the scoring in the first half with her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute on an assist by Jade Koeune to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, all Marian needed was a pair of scores in a 20-second span to salt away any hopes of a Maranatha comeback. In the 68th minute, Hozeska added her third goal of the year on an assist by Kelly Kulinski just before Conn knocked in her ninth score of the season on a Hozeska assist 20 seconds later.

The Sabres will await their opponent as they prepare to host one-of-two NAC semifinal contests on Wed., Nov. 2. Start time is slated for 3 p.m. The full NAC tournament bracket will be released later this evening.
