ELMHURST, Ill. (SabreAthletics.com) – A scoreless tie was broken up late in the match as Elmhurst's Heather De Moss netted her fifth score of the season in the 85th minute to give the host Blue Jays a 1-0 non-conference win over the visiting Marian University women's soccer team tonight, Oct. 5.

Caitlyn Rosenberger, the defense stood strong for the majority of the match. Entering the night, the Blue Jays had allowed just four goals and 25 shots in nine matches on the season. The Sabres managed five shots, including four in the first half, but couldn't muster a goal on Maddie Fitzpatrick, the Elmhurst net-minder.
Marian falls to 7-6 on the season while the Blue Jays improve to 8-2.
De Moss's decisive goal came with just five minutes remaining in regulation off a rebound from a shot taken by Amy Baschen. The Blue Jays outshot the Sabres, 21-5, in the contest while winning four corner kicks compared to none for Marian.
The Sabres look to rebound this weekend as they jump back into Northern Athletics Conference play by taking on Rockford on the road. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
