Sabre Softball Finishes Regular Season with MSOE

FOND DU LAC - Marian University softball (17-19, 12-12 NACC) was swept by MSOE to finish the regular season 3-0 and 4-3 in 10 innings.

GAME 1
  • Marian had base runners reach safely in the first five innings but couldn't muster any runs.
  • MSOE scored one in the fourth and two in the second to earn the victory. 
  • The loss was just the third time the Sabres were shutout this season.
GAME 2
  • MSOE was able to strike early in game two scoring an unearned run in the first inning.
  • The Sabres were finally able to break through in the third when sophomore Kerena Wood drove in two runs with a single in the third to put Marian ahead 2-1.
  • The Raiders answered in the fifth tying the game.
  • The next four innings were quiet with neither offense managing much.
  • A hot start to the top of the 10th saw MSOE score twice to go ahead 4-2.
  • Marian responded scoring a run in the bottom half and put the tying run in scoring position.
  • MSOE managed to keep Marian off the board, however, to secure the sweep.

GAME 1
Senior Cailie Pliner (8-6) took the loss despite going 4.0 innings and allowing just one earned run.
Junior Katelyn Matenaer was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Senior Julia Corona went 1-for-2 and had a sacrifice bunt.

GAME 2
Sophomore Kerena Wood went 3-for-5 driving in all three Marian runs.
Junior Katelyn Matenaer went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run scored.
Senior Emalee Depa (8-10) had another strong start tossing all 10.0 innings allowing just three earned runs.
