Sabre Scratch - Week 10 Recap

Sabre Scratch graphic

The fall sports continue to wind down and we officially have all of our winter sports underway!  Let's go over everything that happened this week!

MEN'S SOCCER

Marian opened its week earning a spot in the NACC Tournament for the fifth time in program history with a scoreless draw against CUW! Junior Tyler Hall made six saves for his third shutout of the year.  The Sabres then had the tough task of taking on Edgewood who is receiving votes in the national poll.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

It was a tough week for the Sabres as they were defeated by CUW to finish the regular season.  Marian then gave Edgewood all they could in the NACC Tournament but a fourth-minute score was enough for the Eagles to end the Marian season.  The bright spot for the week was senior Chelsea King earning NACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Marian continued to play well down the home stretch as the Sabres enter the final week of the season.  The Sabres nearly earned a road win over MSOE but finished the week with a dominating sweep of Dominican on Senior Day!

FIELD HOCKEY

It was a fun week for the Sabres that began with junior Emilee Clarey being named CFHC Defensive Player of the Week.  Marian then shutout CUW to earn the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament.  We will see you at Smith Field Nov. 6-9 for the CFHC Tournament!

NCAA MEN'S HOCKEY

The Sabres opened their season with a tie against Saint John's (Minn.) before falling to No. 13/13 UW-Superior at home. Three different Sabres had multiple points against the Johnnies!

WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY

History was made for the Sabres as Marian opened its season with two wins for the first time in program history!  Freshman Yazmine Gonzalez scored in each game and junior Ella Spies had three points as Marian gave Beloit a rude welcome to NCAA hockey!

ACHA D2

After all the chaos of the showcase, Marian earned a much needed weekend off!

ACHA D3

Marian faced off with Wisconsin but was unfortunately defeated in both games.

WOMEN'S BOWLING

Marian competed in a tough Windy City Classic and earned victories over three nationally-ranked teams!  The top four Sabres finished within 12 pins of each other in traditional action!

MEN'S BOWLING

It was an off week for the Sabres!
