(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University nearly pulled off a huge upset on Friday night, but fell 3-2 to \#6-ranked UW-River Falls. The Falcons are now 15-3-6 on the season, while Marian fell to 2-20.
The Falcons scored three times in the first period and appeared headed for a big victory. Marian's defense tightened and in the third they made things interesting.
Tara Scott (Mt. Albert, ON) lit the lamp with a power-play goal at the 8:37 mark in the third.
Alex DeBoer (Spring Lake Park, MN) assisted on the goal. Then, at the 12:55 mark in the third,
Stephanie Desmeules (Red Lake, ON) made it 3-2 with some help from Scott.
The Falcons out shot the Sabres 72-8 in the contest, but
Melissa Calder (Fort Frances, ON) was up to the task as she recorded 69 saves.
