Marian falls to #1 UW-River Falls

(Fond du Lac, WI) - Marian University dropped a 6-1 game to the top ranked team in the nation, UW-River Falls, on Friday evening at the Blue Line Family Ice Center. The Sabres will wrap up the season tomorrow afternoon against the Falcons. 

The Sabres trailed just 1-0 after one period and were down 2-0 in the second when Devan Lesch (Chicago, IL) put Marian on the board. Her goal was assisted by Amanda Reimann (Arena, WI) and Rachel Mullendore (Amery, WI). 

The Falcons went on to score four unanswered goals to put the game away. 

UW-River Falls out-shot Marian 65-16 in the contest and scored two shorthanded goals and added a power play. 

Melissa Calder (Fort Frances, ON) stopped 59 shots in the defeat.
