Women's Hockey Drops 3-0 Decision to UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (SabreAthletics.com) – The Marian University women's hockey team fell to host University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, 3-0, today, Jan. 14, in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play.

After a scoreless first period, in which Marian goaltender Katie Bassett made 13 saves, the Blugolds answered back with three goals to give them all they needed to claim the win and the series sweep over the Sabres. Bassett wound up making 13 more saves in the second period and five in the third to finish with 31 saves for the contest.

UW-Eau Claire improves to 5-10-2 overall, 4-7-1 in the NCHA. Meanwhile, Marian falls to 0-14-1 (0-10 NCHA).

The Sabres will be back in action Jan. 20-21, as they take on Finlandia. Friday's game is slated for 7 p.m. at Blueline Family Ice Center in Fond du Lac, while Saturday's contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Waupun Community Center.
