The 2000-01 Marian men's basketball team becomes the first men's basketball team to reach the Hall of Fame.  The team went 17-11 on the season with an 8-4 LMC record and put together a late run to become the first team in program history to earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament.  The Sabres were able to win three of the final four LMC games of the season including a 78-71 win over Lakeland, who finished one spot ahead of Marian in the final standings, at home.  Marian opened the LMC Tournament with a 74-72 overtime victory over CUW at home before becoming road warriors the rest of the way.  The Sabres were able to knock off top-ranked Edgewood in the semifinals of the tournament in a tight 65-62 victory.  Then Marian headed to Lakeland, a team they had beaten at home just two weeks prior, and defeated the Muskies 67-60 to earn the fourth LMC Tournament Championship in program history and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Boyle highlighted postseason recognition earning his second consecutive Coach of the Year award.  Eric Meunch led the Sabres in scoring and rebounding averaging 15.7 points per game with 4.9 rebounds per game to earn LMC All-Conference recognition.  He would also hold th team lead for steals with 53 on the defensive end.  Scott Jaeger ('13) joined him after averaging 15.5 points per game and leading the squad with 69 three-pointers and a 40.6-shooting percentage from beyond the arc.  Jaeger also finished with a team-high 161 assists and on the defensive end grabbed 48 steals.  Brian Crowe went on to earn honorable mention recognition and Wade Georgeff earned a spot on the All-Freshman Team.
