Hall of Fame
Doug Arnett is one part of a duo from the Marian men's soccer program to earn a nod into the Marian athletics Hall of Fame competing for Marian from 1987-90. Arnett was selected as an all-conference player by the Lake Michigan Conference all four seasons of his career and capped off his time as a Sabre with an NAIA all-district selection as a senior. His Sabre career saw Arnett anchor the back end of the Marian defense and helped lead Marian to the NAIA district playoffs all four seasons. Marian went a combined 38-32-2 (.542) over his career, 15-8-1 in conference action, including a 1988 season that saw the Sabres go 14-3-0 (.824), the winningest season in program history. The Sabres also went a perfect 6-0-0 in conference action during the 1988 season earning the program their first conference championship. As a leader of the Sabre defense, he helped lead Marian to a 0.82 goals against average in 1988, third-lowest for a single season, to go with nine shutouts, tied for the most in a single season. Arnett also helped lead Marian to seven shutouts in 1989, tied for the sixth-most in a single season. His tenacious defense and excellent ball-winning skills helped pave the way for future success in the Marian men's soccer program.
