Scott Merzlicker will go down as one of the most successful student-athletes to walk the halls at Marian and suit up for the men’s soccer team.

Scott, a four-year letterwinner is Marian’s career leader in numerous statistical categories. His 118 points, 40 goals and 38 assists are all program records.  He also played and started a school-record 83 games. He was named the 2001 Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Year and was placed on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America First-Team All-State Team.  He was also a NSCAA Second Team All-Region selection.

Scott is a four-time All-LMC selection, 1998 All-Rookie Team selection and 1998 LMC Newcomer of the Year. He helped the Sabres towards the 2001 regular season title and two-straight NCAA tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001 and two LMC tournament championships in the same time frame.

In his four years with the program, the Sabres finished with a 51-26-6 overall record, as well as a 39-6-3 mark in LMC competition. The Sabres also finished the 2001 season with an unblemished 10-0-2 record in conference action.

Scott also competed on the tennis court as well. In 2001 he was an all conference singles selection. In 2002 Scott, along with Andy Bergstrom, won all-conference honors in doubles tennis.
