Tom Katz was a prominent pitcher for the Sabre baseball program from 1992-95 helping lead Marian to three LMC tournament championships and a berth in the NAIA World Series in 1993. Katz is the all-time leader for wins in Marian baseball history with 29, seven more than second place, and games started with 40. He also tossed the second-most innings pitched in program history with 255.2 over his four years with 19 complete games, third in program history. His 29-9 (.763) record over his career still ranks second in Marian baseball history for winning percentage, while his nine shutouts are also second in Sabre history. His 2.58 earned run average over his career sits ninth all-time in Marian history. His sophomore season, that saw Marian reach the NAIA World Series, he posted a 1.86 earned run average with nine wins, tied for the most wins for a single season in program history, with four shutouts. Katz went on to earn All-Midwest region honors that season and was named an honorable mention All-American by the NAIA. His senior year was just as strong as he earned another nine wins on the bump with four shutouts and eight complete games. He would earn an NAIA all-district accolade that season to go with an all-conference selection by the Lake Michigan Conference.
